Seojin Mobility inaugurated the first phase of its plant in General Escobedo, Nuevo León, with an investment of US$160 million and 300 direct jobs, according to the official announcement of April 11, 2025.
The full plan contemplates a second phase toward 2028 worth an additional US$140 million, bringing the total investment to US$300 million.
What it makes
The plant produces key components for automotive electric motors. This is electromobility supply: the fastest growing layer of the automotive chain and the one that defines who participates in the vehicle platforms to come.
The Korean piece of the puzzle
Korean investment in Nuevo León stopped being just Kia a while ago. Around the Pesquería assembly plant, a network of suppliers from its home country has settled: Doowon in air intake systems, Dayou in steering wheels, Hyundai Mobis and Hyundai WIA in modules and engines, and now Seojin in electric motor components.
That pattern, the automaker first and its chain afterward, is how a state stops assembling and starts manufacturing. Each supplier that lands lowers the logistics cost for the next one.
For Escobedo, the plant adds an electromobility anchor to a municipality that already concentrates heavy manufacturing, with Navistar and Brembo among its neighbors.
