Unilever announced an investment of MXN$16 billion in its plant in Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León: 8 billion in new funds on top of the 8 billion already invested in construction, according to the official announcement of May 2, 2025.
The plant will manufacture beauty and personal care products for the Dove, Rexona and Sedal brands, with 1,200 direct and indirect jobs.
The story behind the figure
This investment did not arrive all at once. In February 2023 the company announced US$400 million to build the factory, with operations planned for 2024. The 2025 announcement confirms the bet grew: the plant went from project to regional export platform.
That pattern, announcing one phase and expanding it once the state delivers, repeats across Nuevo León: LEGO followed it in Ciénega de Flores, Kia in Pesquería and Danfoss in Apodaca.
Why a consumer goods factory matters
Nuevo León's industrial profile is dominated by automotive and heavy manufacturing. A consumer goods anchor diversifies that mix, and brings a different supply chain: packaging, ingredients, retail logistics and distribution across North America.
For Salinas Victoria, on the state's northern corridor, this is the second global anchor alongside Bosch, which built its refrigerator plant there. A corridor that was periphery a few years ago now concentrates some of the state's largest investments.
