Munters inaugurated its second plant in Apodaca, Nuevo León, with an accumulated investment of MXN$190 million over the last 16 months and 100 new jobs, according to the official announcement of January 28, 2026. A second phase remains underway.
The Swedish company manufactures energy efficient climate control solutions. The new plant will produce evaporative panels and humidification systems for data centers, turbines, condensers and industrial applications.
Why this plant says more than its figure
The number is modest next to other announcements in the state. What matters is the market it sells to: cooling is a data center's second largest consumption after computing itself, and that industry's expansion across North America is pushing demand for this equipment beyond what installed capacity can cover.
Nuevo León already plays in that chain: Vertiv builds power and thermal management systems in Santa Catarina, Danfoss makes compressors in Apodaca, and the state is Mexico's leading exporter of transformers. Munters adds the evaporative cooling piece, with a local fact that closes the loop: Equinix has operated its MO2 data center in the same municipality since 2025.
An expansion decision, made for the second time in 16 months, is the signal that the first bet worked.
